Learning how to edit stories? Writing stories with a sequence? This May writing journal asks students to brainstorm, edit, and write the final draft of a story. Students are also given a booklet of pictorial vocabulary to references containing emotions, adjectives, jobs, and more!

Each of my monthly packs includes:
-pictorial vocabulary (either presented on each page or in a printable picture spelling dictionary depending on the month)
-goal posters (to align with the goals at the bottom of each journal page- each month a new goal is added)

Each month’s pack is tailored to support the development writing of a typical kindergartener at each month in the year. For example, September’s journal (labeling, one line for writing, etc.) will look much different from April’s journal (4 lines, 4 goals). My goal in creating these journals was to best support my students at each stage in their writing development.
